Badge
Your badge can be collected at the Registration Desk or at the Self check-in stations in Palazzo dei Congressi. Please remember to bring the confirmation of registration to collect your badge.
Self-check-in and Registration Desks opening hours:
- From Tuesday, 17 to Friday, 20 June (07:00 – 19:30)
- Saturday, 21 June (07:00 - 13:00 – the cloakroom will be open until 18:00)
You are required to wear your badge at all times. The badge allows access to all the rooms where the scientific sessions take place, the Poster area and the Exhibition area, where lunches and coffee breaks are also offered. Reissue of a lost badge will be charged at 100.- Swiss Francs.
Breastfeeding
A breastfeeding room is available at Palazzo dei Congressi (level – 1) during the Registration Desk opening hours:

Climate
Ticino is one of the warmest regions in Switzerland. In Lugano the climate is mild. In June the average temperature is 25-30 °C. Thunderstorms are possible.
Currency
The official currency in Switzerland is the Swiss Franc, indicated as CHF. Credit cards are accepted almost everywhere.
Electricity
Electricity in Switzerland is 230 Volt AC, 50 Hz (continental European standard). Don’t forget to bring an adapter, as the compatibility with other continental European plugs is limited.

Insurance
The ICML Organising Committee declines responsibility for adverse events, either before, during and after the Congress. Participants are strongly advised to obtain their own personal and travel insurance coverage.
Language
English is the official language of the Congress. Italian is the spoken language in the Ticino region. French and German are also widely spoken in the main tourist sites.
Photographs
ICML reserves the right to photograph and record the congress and participants, and to use such photographs and videos in any internal and external communication referring to ICML (website, social channels, press releases, newsletter or other publications).
Due to the large audience of participants, we cannot guarantee that you will not be the subject of photos or videos.
Prayer room
A dedicated room is available at Palazzo dei Congressi during the Registration Desk opening hours.
Restaurants
Lugano and its neighbouring areas offer numerous gastronomical proposals, from Michelin starred restaurants to the more rustic so-called “grotti”, from international cuisine to typical and traditional dishes.

Tipping
Tips are not required in restaurants, cafés, bars, hotels nor for taxis or hairdressers. Service charges are included in the prices, as required by Swiss federal law.
Shopping
Most shops in Lugano are open from 8:00 or 9:00 to 18:30 and many close 1 or 2 hours at noon. On Thursdays most shops are open until 21:00 pm. On Saturdays almost all shops close at 17:00.
Most shops accept cash in CHF or EUR, as well as credit cards. Some stores in Lugano’s city center also accept Bitcoin.
Shuttle service
A shuttle service connects the Conference locations with the following timetable:

from Wednesday, 18 to Friday, 20 June (07:30 – 21:00)
Please note that, on this service, attendees with physical disabilities have precedence.
Smoking
ICML is a smoke-free event.
Since 2010, smoking has been banned in enclosed public spaces in Switzerland.
Video
ICML is a hybrid event and it will live broadcast via the MyICML platform.
If you would rather not appear on video, you are kindly asked to:
- send your questions via the 18-ICML platform or 18-ICML App (not using the microphones available in the rooms);
- choose a seat away from the microphones.

Water stations
Water stations will be available at every Conference venue, providing free drinking water to all attendees. A reusable water bottle will be included in the delegate bag.
Wi-Fi
Complimentary internet wi-fi access is available for Conference delegates throughout the 18-ICML
locations, thanks to the support of AstraZeneca.
